Hi all, I've got one of the Brawa G4/5 steam locos that is factory fitted with a DCC decoder and sound. It all works fine under DCC power, but there's no sound when on analogue. Can anyone confirm that they are able to make a noise when running under analogue power? Looking at the CV chart, there's nothing obvious that would make a difference.

I don't know what decoders Brawa fit?

CV's 13 and 14 'should' decide a lot of what happens on analogue power, but some manufacturers do not support sound on analogue at all.

Just been looking at the CV list, perversely the Brawa goes from CV 8-17 with no information for 9-16! CV 51 defines if the loc will or will not work on Analogue or DCC but no details of sound here either. However Bit 2 on the dreaded CV 29 suggests automatic analog/digital changeover. I wonder if this not set correct would analogue sound be disabled? The default value for this CV should be 4, if it has been changed that may be the issue.

This was their one and only dip into G scale along with the matching coaches!
This is Brawa, although it might be more G1 than G scale 1:24....

I had this in my head as well, which is why I was hoping someone with this model could confirm either way.

Everything I have found on the web, infers 'no' to sound on analogue..

But other than Brawa-English, I can't really find a definitive answer.

Briefly - it was well detailed, expensive, and fragile :nod:
Very fragile we were forever finding bits of it on the Ruschbahn, my pal in Somerset has the former Ruschbahn one. He is now DCC but cant remember if the sound worked on analogue, he thinks it did but…….

Brawa have back to me this morning and confirmed that sound is not possible when running in analogue.

Think he dropped to £260 dunnyrail dunnyrail and no one took the bait.
Wow that was very good price, I might have been very tempted at that price to use it for some kind of conversion though I expect the belt drive would have been an issue.
